FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 1. The Casita

  • The Casita hours are from 9:00am – 5:30pm, Monday through Saturday. We are closed on Sundays.

  • Our current ratio is eight children to one teacher.

  • The toys and classrooms are cleaned and sanitized after every class. We also encourage grown-ups to let us know if a toy needs cleaning by putting it in the ‘Wash Me’ bin located in the Casita. Any toys that were put in the mouth by the child, sneezed or drooled on goes in this box throughout the day to be sanitized. Teachers follow a detailed checklist and sign off upon cleaning.

We also periodically do a center-wide sanitization done by Raze. They carry out a professional nano photocatalyst coating that sterilizes and protects our surfaces from mold, VOCs, bacteria and viruses for a 6-month period.

  • Since the children and adults will be doing movement activities inside the classroom, we recommend wearing grip socks and bringing water bottles for the child that will not spill to avoid any accidents. A change of clothes for the children is also recommended especially since there will be sensory exploration or messy play activities. Grown-ups are required to wear socks inside the Centre.

  • Casita provides all necessary materials for our program so children can just come in and enjoy their classes.

  • For accompanied classes, we only allow 1 grown-up to go with the child inside the classroom due to limited space. Nonetheless, the Casita has an ‘open door’ policy in which grown-ups are always welcome to observe the class from outside the classroom. To avoid disruption and distraction, we strongly suggest limiting class viewing to a maximum of 1 minute.

  • To protect the wellbeing of all children who attend our classes, we strictly enforce a No Mobile Phone Usage in the learning areas. Photography and taking videos of the class and of other children is strictly prohibited. This will also ensure that grown-ups are fully involved in the activity with the child.

  • We understand that important events might coincide with the Casita classes. To help ease your time management, you may reschedule your child’s class through the Casita Booking Portal above using the two unique codes provided in the initial Confirmation Email sent.

To ensure proper class management, a maximum of 2 schedule changes are allotted for your child.

    Procedure to reschedule a class:

    1. Sign-in to your account

    2. Cancel the original class registered

    3. Make a new booking using the code provided in the email confirmation

If the dates for make-up classes do not match with your availability, we cannot guarantee a make-up class. Spaces available are on a first come, first serve basis.

  • A maximum of 2 missed classes can be rescheduled via the Casita Booking Portal. All rescheduled classes should be done within the registered term only and based on slot availability of classes. Missed classes cannot be accumulated to offset during the following term.

A missed make-up class cannot be rescheduled.

  • If you have to cancel your child’s class, we regret that we cannot give refunds for class cancellations initiated by the parents.

  • The Casita is closed on public holidays. If your child’s class falls on a public holiday, this has been taken into consideration in the payment process.

    G. The Casita will not refund any fees, reschedule classes or be in breach of this agreement due to any event outside its reasonable control. These include, without limitation, any act deemed to be force majeure, fire, failure of public transport, official arrangements, government declaration, unrests, infectious diseases, epidemics, inclement weather (e.g. flooding, storms, typhoons), or other mandatory reasons outside of the control of The Casita.

  • The Casita lounge x playroom is a space for families to relax, share stories and create new and meaningful connections with other parents. We would love to see families and have a chat with everyone there. You may enjoy some coffee, light refreshments and snacks that are available to all registered children throughout the day. Playroom access is free for full term students while drop-in students enjoy the playroom on the day of their class.

  • We fully understand that for some adults and children, the removal of the mask mandate is entirely voluntary and we will continue to support any adult or child who prefers to wear a mask in Casita should they wish to. The Casita staff will not ask a child or grown-up to remove their mask, nor require them to wear one.

  • Baby-safe mats are great but may give toddlers a false sense of security when it comes to tripping or falling. In the real world, mats aren’t always available. Toddlers get more sensory input from hardwood floors. This informs how their bodies should adjust, especially when they trip or fall, thus preparing them for the real world setting. While we believe in the benefits of a hard floor, we still want our grown-ups to be vigilant and aware of our toddlers movements in The Casita.

2. Casita Playgroup

  • Our playgroup classes are a holistic experience that exposes children to music and movement by Zumbini®, sensory exploration, and school readiness skills such as early literacy, numeracy, socialization and practical life.

  • Casita has classes based on the age of the child. However, we consider other factors such as social emotional development and class readiness as well. Children may be kept at a younger class or promoted to an older class as appropriate.

The Casita Playgroup age groups are as follows:

    • Tumblers (6-12 months): Tumblers for babies is a 45-minute accompanied class that combines heuristic play with the music and movement activities of Zumbini®.

    • Wanderers (1-2 years old): A 60-minute accompanied class that combines the music and movement activities of Zumbini® with circle time activities and sensory exploration.

    • Explorers (2-3 years old): A 60-minute transition class that combines the music and movement activities of Zumbini® with circle time activities, practical life skills and sensory exploration. This class is perfect for children as they move-up into a new environment and adapt to an unfamiliar setting.

    • Adventurers (3 - 5 years old): A 60-minute unaccompanied class that harnesses the power of imaginary pretend play through thematic lessons that combine the music and movement activities of Zumbini® with circle time activities, story time, process art activities and sensory exploration.

Note: Because children develop at their own pace, the class age range is more of a guide than a rule. Teachers will be on hand to discuss where your child would benefit the most at this current moment in their learning journey. Classes are most developmentally appropriate for as follows:
